Uveyiks is a worldwide service project led by a group of high-school students dedicated to making a difference. Inspired by the turtledove—a symbol of peace, friendship, and resilience—we aim to uplift communities in need and bring hope to those who need it most. Our mission is to create lasting change by addressing critical humanitarian needs around the world.

Our Mission

Our Story

Uveyiks began as a vision shared by a group of high-school girls who wanted to make a difference. From the beginning, our journey has been one of dedication, empathy, and a commitment to finding creative ways to help others. Our name, Uveyiks, is derived from the Turkish word for the European turtledove—a bird that symbolizes peace and the resilience to keep flying without tiring.

Since our founding, we have successfully undertaken projects like raising $3,950 to construct a water well in Africa, bringing clean water to communities that need it most. Our group has grown, and so has our ability to make a positive difference. Each action we take, no matter how small, brings us closer to our goal of making a meaningful impact.

Our Projects and Impact

  • Clean Water Initiative: Our first major initiative was to fundraise for a water well in Africa, which we successfully achieved. This well now serves to provide clean and safe water to families who previously lacked access.

  • Community Fundraisers: We organize bake sales, blood drives, and other community events to raise awareness and funds for our causes.

  • Partnerships: We collaborate with organizations like Embrace Relief to ensure that our impact reaches the most vulnerable communities.

We’re thrilled to announce that we have successfully reached our fundraising goal for the Uveyiks Water Well Project! Thanks to the amazing support from our community, we raised $3,950 to build a water well in Africa. This achievement means clean and safe drinking water for hundreds of families who need it most. Our journey to raise funds for the water well was filled with creative events and the incredible support of our community. One of our first major fundraising events was a community bake sale. We gathered our members, friends, and families, and everyone came together to bake delicious treats. Cookies, cakes, muffins—you name it, we had it! We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Uveyiks Clean Water Initiative! Access to clean water is a basic human right, yet 2.2 billion people around the world still lack it. Every day, women across the globe spend a staggering 200 million hours finding and collecting water. The lack of accessible, clean water creates significant challenges, affecting health, education, and sanitation, particularly in Africa. The burden of water collection often falls on women and children, who must walk long distances carrying heavy jugs of water. This not only takes a toll on their physical health but also limits their opportunities for education and work. Young girls, who could be in school, are instead spending their days collecting water, perpetuating the cycle of poverty. For every year a girl stays in school, her income as an adult is expected to increase by 20%.
