Today, we had an incredible time at the Uveyiks Club Celebration Event! It was a day full of reflection, connection, and exciting plans for the future. We kicked off the event with an orientation presentation for our new team members, led by the Uveyiks board. The presentation showcased our achievements from last year, including the successful fundraising campaign for the 2023-2024 Water Well Project. We were thrilled to share photos and videos of the completed water well in Morogoro, Tanzania—a powerful reminder of the impact we can make together.   After reflecting on our past accomplishments, we shifted our focus to our upcoming project: providing cataract surgeries in Africa. We are excited to share our next big initiative: the Uveyiks Cataract Surgery Project in Africa!  By providing access to affordable eye care, we aim to restore sight and transform lives, helping individuals regain their independence and improve their quality of life.  Why This Project? Cataracts are the leading cause of blindness worldwide, yet they are entirely preventable. In many communities across Africa, access to basic eye care is limited, leaving thousands of people living with blindness that could easily be treated. Blindness not only affects the health of those suffering but also limits their ability to work, care for their families, and contribute to their communities. By restoring vision, we help individuals regain their independence and improve their quality of life. Uveyiks organized this blood drive as part of our commitment to supporting communities in need. Access to donated blood is essential for emergency care, surgeries, and treating critical conditions, and we wanted to do our part to help ensure hospitals have enough supplies to save lives. Yesterday, we held a blood drive in partnership with the American Red Cross, and we’re happy to share that it was a great success! We saw an amazing turnout, with many people from our community coming out to donate blood. Thanks to the incredible support of our community, we were able to fund the construction of a water well in Morogoro, Tanzania, that now provides clean, safe water to families who previously had to walk miles to access it. This project has made a real difference in their daily lives, improving their health and freeing up time for children to attend school instead of fetching water. It’s a powerful reminder of what we can achieve when we come together for a shared purpose. This life-changing project would not have been possible without your generous contributions. We’re thrilled to announce that we have successfully reached our fundraising goal for the Uveyiks Water Well Project! Thanks to the amazing support from our community, we raised $3,950 to build a water well in Africa. This achievement means clean and safe drinking water for hundreds of families who need it most. Our journey to raise funds for the water well was filled with creative events and the incredible support of our community. One of our first major fundraising events was a community bake sale. We gathered our members, friends, and families, and everyone came together to bake delicious treats. Cookies, cakes, muffins—you name it, we had it! The bake sale not only helped us raise funds but also brought the community closer together. By the end of the day, we had raised a significant amount towards our goal, and the encouragement we received fueled our determination to keep going.                         ...

We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Uveyiks Clean Water Initiative! Access to clean water is a basic human right, yet 2.2 billion people around the world still lack it. Every day, women across the globe spend a staggering 200 million hours finding and collecting water. The lack of accessible, clean water creates significant challenges, affecting health, education, and sanitation, particularly in Africa. The burden of water collection often falls on women and children, who must walk long distances carrying heavy jugs of water. This not only takes a toll on their physical health but also limits their opportunities for education and work. Young girls, who could be in school, are instead spending their days collecting water, perpetuating the cycle of poverty. For every year a girl stays in school, her income as an adult is expected to increase by 20%. By providing clean water, we empower both women and girls, giving them a chance to lead healthier, more prosperous lives. Our goal...

We’re so excited to share that our first Uveyiks Club event was a huge success! 🎉 Most of our club members came out, and we were also lucky to have some of our mentors join us, who really made a big difference. We are incredibly thankful for everyone who participated and helped make this event memorable! The event was filled with energy and excitement. We started with a workshop where we talked about our mission and expectations for the year. It was a great opportunity to set the tone for what we want to achieve together, and everyone enjoyed the discussion and the delicious food that followed. After the workshop, we got everyone involved in some fun games.
