Introducing Uveyiks: A Movement for Change!



Uveyiks is a worldwide service project started by a group of passionate high-school girls who are determined to make a difference. Inspired by the European turtle-dove—symbolizing peace, friendship, and resilience—our mission is to help those who do not have the same opportunities as us, improving lives both locally and globally.

Our name, Uveyik, comes from the Turkish name for the European turtle-dove, a bird that represents tireless effort and dedication. Just like the turtle-dove, we work persistently to uplift communities in need and bring hope where it is needed most.

Our Focus

At Uveyiks, our goal is simple but powerful: to bring positive change to communities around the world. We raise humanitarian aid, support those facing challenging situations, and empower people to improve their lives. Whether it's building clean water wells, organizing fundraisers, or raising awareness for critical issues, we are dedicated to making a tangible impact.

Recent Achievements

Last year, Uveyiks set a goal to raise enough funds to build a water well in Africa, ensuring access to clean water for those in need. Thanks to the incredible support of our community and the hard work of our members, we exceeded our goal of $3,950, raising $3,953.06! This water well now provides clean, safe drinking water to families who previously faced challenges accessing this fundamental resource.

Beyond our clean water initiative, we have organized numerous events, including bake sales, blood drives, and fun community activities. During Ramadan, we held bake sales after Tarawih prayers and ice cream socials, all aimed at fostering a spirit of giving and community involvement. Each of these events brought us closer together and allowed us to make a tangible difference.

We’re thrilled to announce that we have successfully reached our fundraising goal for the Uveyiks Water Well Project! Thanks to the amazing support from our community, we raised $3,950 to build a water well in Africa. This achievement means clean and safe drinking water for hundreds of families who need it most. Our journey to raise funds for the water well was filled with creative events and the incredible support of our community. One of our first major fundraising events was a community bake sale. We are thrilled to announce the launch of the Uveyiks Clean Water Initiative! Access to clean water is a basic human right, yet 2.2 billion people around the world still lack it. Every day, women across the globe spend a staggering 200 million hours finding and collecting water. The lack of accessible, clean water creates significant challenges, affecting health, education, and sanitation, particularly in Africa. The burden of water collection often falls on women and children, who must walk long distances carrying heavy jugs of water. This not only takes a toll on their physical health but also limits their opportunities for education and work. Young girls, who could be in school, are instead spending their days collecting water, perpetuating the cycle of poverty. For every year a girl stays in school, her income as an adult is expected to increase by 20%.
